Visit of the Team of News article EPTV - They São Carlos/SP
On Thursday, the 24th of May, Santa Gertrudes farm opened its gates to receive a tv crew from EPTV – São Carlos/SP, affiliated to TV GLOBO, for the production of a documentary which will tell the story of our region since primitive times. This show is part of the celebration for the founding of the cities of Rio Claro/SP (180 years), Araraquara/SP ( 190 years) and São Carlos/SP (150 years). The farm had a great importance on the development and colonization of the region; its coffee production was intimately connected to the quantity of workers available since they had to come from Europe to the farm. This immigration helped to conquer new areas, allowing progress to come to the area. With the immigration an the production of coffee nearly all the wealth of the country was centered in the region for three quarters of a century which has in the farm one of its best example of concentration of technology and wealth.
